Sujin founded Kinnection Group on a simple premise: that people recover in relationship, not in isolation. Twelve years of clinical work across community mental health and private practice shaped that conviction, much of it with clients whose trauma was layered, longstanding, and tied to family, culture, and history rather than to a single event.
As a Korean-American clinician, Sujin brings lived understanding of what it means to grow up between cultures, to carry a family’s unspoken history, and to succeed in spaces that were not built with that history in mind. That understanding informs how the work is paced and what gets named in the room.
Approach
Sujin is EMDR certified and works from a relational, trauma-informed framework. EMDR is used to resolve what remains stuck; parts work helps clients understand the protective roles they took on and lead from a steadier place; somatic attention keeps the body in the conversation. The approach is community-oriented, with an eye to the systems a person lives inside, and it is affirming of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clients as a foundational value rather than a specialty.
As founder and clinical supervisor, Sujin also oversees the practice’s associate clinicians, so that the same standard of trauma-informed care runs through every therapist at Kinnection.
